Dr. Robin Patrick Mooney, BEng MEng PgDip (PrMgt) PgDip (HEd) MIEI PhD, Robin is an ex-Research Fellow and Adjunct Asst. Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at Trinity College Dublin. Robin currently holds the position of Group Data Analytics Manager at the international Engineering firm, PM Group. In 2010 Robin was awarded funding by the European Space Agency (ESA), via Enterprise Ireland’s PRODEX scheme, to complete a PhD. In 2014 Robin was awarded 3-years of Postdoctoral Research funding also via ESA. During this 7-year period, Robin developed and published computational numerical models of solidification problems and microgravity experiments for two ESA materials science-focused research groups: ‘CETSOL’ and ‘GRADECET’. In 2015 Robin was appointed to the teaching staff at Trinity College Dublin. Robin lectured in Manufacturing Technology (Bachelors level) and Advanced Materials (Masters level) and completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education whilst at Trinity College. Robin then moved to PM Group where he spent a year working as a Mission Critical (Data Centre) Project Manager with a Big Tech client. In 2018, Robin was the recipient of the Innovation in Action overall prize for his project: ‘Machine Learning for Profitability and Efficiency‘ at PM Group; Robin is currently realizing the idea proposed in the innovation award.
